Don’t get in a Lather over Listings!

There are over 1,000 Grade I or Grade II* listed buildings in Gloucestershire.

Listed buildings are often full of character but, in most cases, are also very old, which of course adds to their attraction.  However, this is where problems often arise when trying to comply with the requirements of a local authority.

Quote & Action plan by Facade Finishes

The simple purpose of the Quote and Action plan is to check your property and give you an honest written appraisal of its condition.

It normally takes between 15 and 45 minutes depending on the property size and can be carried out without you needing to be there if it's outside (Although most people do like to meet us).

Restoration, is the name of the game, and we'd like to play the game with you!
Whether you are restoring, rebuilding or renovating, Facade Finishes in Gloucester should be your first choice.
When restoring Historical/Traditional buildings, a different approach is required due to the way the building was constructed and the type of original materials used.
The circumstances and status of a building determines the type of restoration.  By understanding the materials and methods used we aim to protect the plastering heritage of the property where desired.

The 1970s and 1980s was a time when people agonised over which artex pattern style they wanted for their ceilings. However, as decoration trends change, most people nowadays are looking to cover their artex ceilings with a smooth finish.

The Stipple and Broken Leather patterns are gradually being covered over with a lovely shiny new plaster ceiling with a smooth surface, where the focus shifts toward the lighting.

Plastering is one of the most ancient of handicrafts of building and construction. The earliest evidence of this shows that the dwellings of primitive man were erected in a simple fashion with sticks and plastered with mud. Soon a more lasting and sightly material was found to take the place of mud or slime, and that perfection in the compounding of plastering materials was approached at a very remote period is made evident by the fact that some of the earliest plastering which has remained undisturbed excels in its scientific composition that which we use at the present day.

The problem with any big investment is that it's a financial commitment. Look at your house - your most expensive investment. Quite apart from the mortgage, rent and council tax, there are all those little home improvement costs to factor in. Then there's insurance and maintenance and all the little unexpected costs... It just goes on and on!

With that in mind, you'd think that we'd be a bit more careful when it comes to unwanted expenditure or wastage. Not a bit of it. Look at home heating costs. Even now, after all the warnings and media exposure, most of us still haven't taken adequate steps to keep the heat in our houses, instead of letting it out into the streets.
